Previous Position:

Before my career in public education, I was a stay-at-home mom with our three daughters for several years. During this time, I was a grant writer for various public and private organizations, securing over $50 million in investments for non-profit organizations in the state of Oklahoma.

Prior to this, I spent 13 years in the economic development profession, serving as Business Development Director for Rural Enterprises of Oklahoma, Inc., and president of the Okmulgee Area Development Corporation (OADC). My proudest accomplishment as the OADC President was negotiating and coordinating with the team for the clean-up and redevelopment of the former Okmulgee refinery. This project won the 2015 EPA National Phoenix Award, which recognizes excellence in brownfield redevelopment. The OADC also received the 2013 EPA Region 6 Phoenix Award. This site is now home to the Okmulgee Business Park housing Harlan Ford, Holiday Inn Express, and Tractor Supply.

Family Information:

I have been happily married for 24 years to my husband Bruce, who is the Assistant Chief Flight Instructor for Tulsa Community College. The only time we can’t be in the same room is when OU and OSU are playing each other in any sport; we are a house divided! He is a graduate of Oklahoma State and I’m a lifelong OU fan.

We have three daughters who attended and graduated from Morris Schools. Our oldest daughter, Victoria, graduated from the University of Oklahoma and is a brand manager for Dillards at Quail Springs Mall in Edmond. Our daughter, Abigail, is a junior at Northeastern State in Tahlequah majoring in business administration; and our baby, Kylie, graduated from Morris High School in 2023 and is attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater as a business management major.

We have a wonderful dog named Aspen and a temperamental cat named Luna.

Personal Information:

What do I do when I’m not teaching?

  • I love spending time with my children and other family members.
  • I love anything outdoors, including gardening and hiking
  • I like to read and prefer nonfiction, but I am forcing myself to read more fiction classics!
  • I’m definitely a podcast addict and primarily listen to podcasts about news, history, true crime, survival stories, faith-based, and leadership development.
  • Love just hanging out in the recliner watching a series or working on my laptop with my cat Luna laying across me.
  • My faith is important to me! I am a member at First Baptist Morris where I sing with the praise team and cook for youth and children on Wednesday nights.
