Morris Public Schools has finalized plans for graduation and prom.
Graduation will be held on July 17, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. with the gymnasium available if weather is a concern. On Friday, July 3, we will make a determination about whether COVID-19 restrictions will impede our ability to hold a traditional graduation. If it is determined that graduation is going to be restricted, we will move to an alternate plan. The alternate plan will involve hiring a professional videographer to produce a video production of graduation. Students and families will be scheduled a time to come and go through the process of being announced, walking down the field, receiving diplomas, giving valedictorian/salutatorian addresses, etc. A copy of the completed video will be compiled and mailed to seniors. This event will take place on July 17 and possibly July 18. More details will be forthcoming.
Prom will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Five Oaks Lodge in Jenks at 7:00 p.m. A bus will be provided for transportation to and from prom for students who need it. On Friday, July 3, we will make a determination about whether COVID-19 restrictions will force us to cancel this event. If we are unable to host prom on July 9, prom will be cancelled by the school. However, several parents have approached us about hosting an event at a later date. School auditors have told us that the school can assist in purchasing items (venue, DJ, food, etc.). Morris Public Schools would be happy to assist in funding this later event provided that ALL juniors and seniors are invited to attend and COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.
Do you know a child with a disability or suspected disability age 3 to 21 years?
Morris Public School wants to identify children with established or suspected disabilities, regardless of the severity, and provide the most appropriate services to meet their individual needs. These children do not have to be enrolled in school, Head Start, day care, state institutions, other child care, or treatment facilities.
Help us to provide services to any child with a disability in need of special education and related services! Contact Stephanie George, Special Education Director, 918-733-9072 Ext. 217, PO Box 80, Morris, OK 74445.
